On July 23, 2022, Hajia Folawiyo, mother of Segun Awolowo Jnr, former
Executive Director of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, turned 80,
and a turquoise-themed event was organized in her honor by her son,
Segun Awolowo, who was supported by his wife, Bola.
To celebrate with the social matriarch and style icon, the crème de la creme of Lagos society and beyond descended to the Folawiyo family mansion on Queens Drive in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Following prayers at the family mosque, which is also on the premises, guests were ushered into the Folawiyo premises to a gorgeously decorated hall done by Funke Bucknor of Zapphire Events.
The celebration began with an early morning prayer at her home in Ikoyi, Lagos State, and was followed by an after party at the same location.

Born and bred in Ghana to a family of dressmakers, Abah Folawiyo moved to Nigeria with her mother in the 1970s and established her fashion business, Labanella, in the Surulere neighborhood of Lagos.
As honorary matron of the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria, she has continued to set the pace as a style custodian.
